Therefore, it\u2019s important to plan a pet-friendly holiday where they don\u2019t miss out on all of the fun. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Alps are the perfect playground for dogs. With vast open spaces, forests, lakes and rivers \u2013 there\u2019s no end of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ovonetwork.com\/blog\/dog-friendly-hikes-french-alps\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">exciting walks<\/a> to be had.<\/strong> <strong>But, if you\u2019re not familiar with mountain holidays, you may wonder \u201ccan I bring my dog to a restaurant in the Alps?\u201d In short, the Alps are extremely welcoming of dogs, so you don\u2019t have to look far to find dog-friendly restaurants and caf\u00e9s nearby.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>In this post, we highlight: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>The top dog-friendly caf\u00e9s and restaurants in the Alps<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>What to expect when bringing your dog to a ski resort<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Recommendations of places to stay <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-dog-friendly-ski-resorts\">Dog-friendly ski resorts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>On the whole, the French Alps are extremely accommodating towards dogs. In the majority of places, you\u2019ll be able to walk your dog on a lead through the resort and there are numerous dog-friendly walks to enjoy as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the most part, dogs are also welcome on public transport, as long as they behave calmly and don\u2019t sit on the seats. And in some resorts, you may even be allowed to take your dog on some of the chairlifts at certain times, so you can take them for off-piste walks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, do note that <strong>dogs are not permitted on the pistes themselves<\/strong> and should be well-trained before being taken on a chairlift. The majority are dog-friendly, with many providing water bowls. Some may restrict you to the bar, have specific areas where dogs are not permitted or specify that only small breeds are allowed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When making a restaurant reservation, we\u2019d recommend calling in advance and asking about their pet policy. The likelihood is most places will be more than happy to accommodate your dog, as long as they\u2019re aware in advance.
