And especially since Covid, <strong>hygiene and sanitisation are all the more paramount<\/strong>, with guests far more conscious of public health than ever before. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Regular cleaning and upkeep of your rental chalet is essential. <\/strong>Your weekly changeover will involve tasks such as changing beds, dusting surfaces, polishing glass and cleaning appliances. You\u2019ll run the risk of the property not being ready for their arrival, which looks unprofessional and gets you off on the wrong foot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although spring cleaning is a widely used term, the best time to do it, quite literally, is in <strong>spring<\/strong>. Plan in advance<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Spring cleaning requires prior planning.<\/strong> Plan a time when there are no guests staying at the property, and if needs be, block your calendar for a few days in spring and autumn and dedicate them to housekeeping, maintenance and completing odd jobs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you rely on an <strong>external cleaning team<\/strong>, make sure they have the <strong>extra time<\/strong> available to help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, <strong>order additional cleaning supplies in advance<\/strong> \u2013 don\u2019t worry, we\u2019ll provide a stocklist later in this post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-2-de-clutter-organise-and-check-inventory\">2. De-clutter, organise and check inventory<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>You can\u2019t efficiently deep clean a messy chalet. <\/strong>And although you shouldn\u2019t store personal items in your rental property, it\u2019s natural for some items to collect over the course of the season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Take this time to organise store rooms, remove items that won\u2019t be needed, and check all your inventory. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Replace chipped crockery and upgrade items and appliances which are showing signs of wear. It\u2019s always a good idea to have a spare stock of glassware, crockery, cutlery, light bulbs, tealights, etc \u2013 so if you have used up your backup items, make sure to replenish them before the upcoming season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Accidents happen and light damage has to be expected as a result of heavy footfall through the season. Double-check that everything is in working order, looks presentable and is still safe for use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-3-organise-laundering\">3. Organise laundering<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to checking and laundering bed linen and towels, you\u2019ll likely need to clean cushion covers, throws, curtains, sofa covers, tablecloths and other soft furnishings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Contact your local laundrette or \u2018blanchisserie\u2019 to make a change to your regular order and budget for additional costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-4-follow-a-logical-system\">4. Follow a logical system<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Top to bottom: <\/strong>You wouldn\u2019t clean a floor before cleaning a dirty work surface, as dirt could fall back onto the floor.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Left to right: <\/strong>Work in one direction so you aren\u2019t making existing clean areas dirty again.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Inside out: <\/strong>Clean from the furthest point in the room\/area, outwards. For example, don\u2019t clean a shower screen, and then clean the inside of the shower, as you will dirty what you have already cleaned.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cover too\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-kitchen-dining\">Kitchen\/dining<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Clean and defrost the fridge\/freezer including the rubber seals <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Clean all corners of the oven including the seals, hinges and, if possible, take the door apart and clean the glass<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Remove and soak the filter from the extractor fan<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Descale the kettle<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pay close attention to cobwebs in hard-to-reach areas and safely use a ladder if you have high ceilings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Thoroughly clean table and chair legs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Using a sponge, wipe into the corners of all the floors where a mop may not reach<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Clean your washing machine using bleach and its cleaning cycle, empty water trays and remove all lint from the dryer<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-bedrooms-and-communal-areas\">Bedrooms and communal areas<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Dust\/wipe down skirting boards, railings, plug sockets, light switches, picture frames, and all <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ovonetwork.com\/blog\/essential-chalet-interior-accessories\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">decorative objects<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pull any spare bedding and hangers out of wardrobes, wipe all the surfaces and replace any odd hangers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Thoroughly clean in and around fireplaces including glass doors using heavy-duty cleaner<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Clean any marks from the walls or repaint if necessary<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Clean or replace air conditioning filters and radiators<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sanitise kids\u2019 toys and games<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sanitise mattresses using a disinfectant fabric spray<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-bathrooms\">Bathrooms<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Remove any dust and dirt from air vents and soak detachable parts in soapy water<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wipe all the piping including behind toilets or under sinks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Drop chlorine tablets or dishwasher tablets in the toilets and leave them to soak \u2013 it helps remove stubborn, built-up stains<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Remove limescale buildup on shower heads<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Soak sink and shower plugs in bleach to ensure all grime is removed and polish with specialist stainless steel product<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-exterior-garden\">Exterior\/garden<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Re-plant and organise any gardening\/maintenance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Check for cigarette butts and dog mess that can appear especially once the snow has melted<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Check for wasps nests<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Deep clean the barbecue<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Clean garden bins, and doormats and all furniture<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-spa-facilities\">Spa facilities<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Organise maintenance and safety checks of hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms and pools<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Thoroughly clean these areas (you may need a professional for this) with specialist products and stock up on chemical supplies (store them in a locked cupboard)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cover\"><span aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-cover__background has-background-dim-40 has-background-dim\"><\/span><img loading=\"lazy\"
