Simply wandering around the cobbled streets and absorbing the stunning architecture is fascinating in itself, but there\u2019s plenty more to see. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s how we recommend spending a two-day cultural visit\u2026 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Day one: visit the museums<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>On day one, we\u2019d recommend visiting <a href=\"https:\/\/en.lac-annecy.com\/cultural-heritage\/palais-de-lile-annecy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Le Palais de I\u2019\u00cele <\/strong><\/a>and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gpsmycity.com\/attractions\/the-castle-(musee-chateau-dannecy)-44128.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Mus\u00e9e-Chateau D\u2019Annecy<\/strong><\/a>. These two historical monuments are the most iconic buildings in Annecy and are not to be missed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With a <strong>joint fee of 7.20\u20ac or 4\u20ac for under-25s<\/strong>, you can purchase a combination ticket from either venue, granting access to both sites. Both are open every day throughout the year apart from Tuesdays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re still keen for more culture, head over to the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/en.lac-annecy.com\/cultural-heritage\/musee-du-film-danimation-annecy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mus\u00e9e du Film d\u2019animation<\/a><\/strong>, which is just a two minute walk from the Chateau.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Between visits, you could stop for lunch or a coffee in one of the many restaurants in the old town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-le-palais-de-i-ile\"><strong>Le Palais de I\u2019\u00cele<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.lac-annecy.com\/cultural-heritage\/palais-de-lile-annecy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Le Palais de I\u2019\u00cele<\/strong><\/a> was listed as a historic monument in 1900, with its oldest parts dating back to the 12th century. Originally housing the prison and the minting workshop of the Counts of Geneva, this renowned medieval structure is located in the heart of Annecy and has since become an emblem of the town. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Guided tours are available, or opt for an unguided visit costing <strong>3.90\u20ac<\/strong> for an adult and <strong>2\u20ac<\/strong> for a child. There\u2019s free entry for children under 12 and group rates for more than 5 people. With both the mountains and the lake on your doorstep, you\u2019ll have plenty of opportunities to work off some energy! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A good time to plan an active holiday is April-early October as these seasons are ideal for watersports and cycling. The city is also close to<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ovonetwork.com\/blog\/ski-resorts-near-annecy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> ski resorts<\/a><\/strong>, so if you\u2019re looking for a ski holiday and city break in one, winter is a great time to go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>(The following itinerary is based on a five-day trip, however, you could easily extend your holiday if you wanted to try more of the recommended activities or take some rest days in between.
